The APESB is supported by a team of technical and administrative staff known as the "secretariat". The primary role of the secretariat is to oversee the drafting and development of relevant up-to-date professional and ethical standards for members of the profession and to provide administrative support to the Board.
Mr. Channa Wijesinghe is a graduate of Monash University and holds an MBA from Deakin University. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and CPA Australia, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). He initially worked for over a decade with Ernst & Young and Deloitte in Audit and Corporate Finance and was an Audit Director at the Melbourne office of Deloitte. He has commercial experience with energy companies which includes two years with AGL Energy where he was a member of the AGL Group’s IFRS project team and was involved in IFRS implementation when Australia adopted IFRS in 2005/06. He joined the APESB in January 2007. Since that time, he has been responsible for the development of the APESB suite of professional pronouncements. He functions as the Chairman of APESB's Standard Development Taskforces. He represents APESB at IESBA's National Standards Setters group and at various IFAC forums on international standard development projects.
Ms Jacinta Hanrahan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ballarat. She is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She has ten years' experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers; initially in the Assurance and Advisory services division and then as a Manager in the Accounting and Consulting Services Division. She has also worked in industry for 8 years gaining experience in the not-for-profit, education, tourism and hospitality industries. Jacinta joined the APESB in October 2015 and is involved in the standard setting and operational activities of the APESB.
Mr Vijay Kumar holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mysore (India). He is also a Chartered Accountant (India), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He has served the Financial Services Industry in different capacities in India and the Middle East. His past work, whether as a Banker, Consultant or Internal Auditor revolved around reviewing, interpreting and applying financial standards and regulations. He has also worked with several standard setting bodies, in particular Banking Regulators and Capital Market Authorities in the Middle East during his tenure at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Before joining the APESB in August 2018, Vijay worked as Head of Special Projects – Internal Audit at the Arab National Bank based at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Vijay supports the technical team in delivering the APESB work program.
Mr Ben Collins is a graduate of RMIT, receiving his Bachelor of Business (Accounting) in 2016. He has four years’ experience as a small business bookkeeper, working with a diverse group of clients including not-for-profits and professionals. He has an interest in social enterprise and philanthropy and has recently begun his Chartered Accountants program with CA ANZ. Ben joined the APESB in May 2018 and he will support the technical team in delivering the technical work program.
Ms Anna Brasier holds a Bachelor of Communications and a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing from Victoria University. Anna has many years’ experience from various industries including retail and tourism. In recent years, she has worked as Managing Editor and Editor in Chief for Victoria University’s student publications, Offset and Hyde. She joined the APESB in April 2017 and works as a support to the Secretariat and is involved in Communication activities.
